What is Ombré Powder?

Ombré Powder is a cosmetic tattoo technique where tiny dots of colored pigment are implanted into the skin using a micro-pigmentation machine. The term “ombré” means that gradation of color from dark to light. The tail of the brow is darker while the front of the brow is lighter and misty. Healed results have a powdery appearance which mimics the look of brows filled in with makeup.

This technique is great for all skin types including oily and combination skin. The procedure is customizable and the desired outcome can be bold or natural. If you want to save time in the morning and wake up with makeup, this procedure is for you!

How long does the procedure take?

The initial session takes approximately 3-4 hours. This includes a consultation, brow mapping/shaping, tattooing, and photos. Touch-up sessions take approximately 1.5-2 hours.

Does the procedure hurt?

A topical anesthetic is applied throughout the procedure to ease any pain. However, pain thresholds vary between individuals and some discomfort is to be expected. Every effort is made to ensure you remain comfortable during the entire process.

What should I expect after the procedure?

Immediately after the procedure, your brows will look very dark and bold. Any redness and swelling will subside within 48 hours. Over the following 2-3 days, the brows will darken and appear thicker as a scab begins to form. THIS IS NORMAL! You can expect your healed results to be up to 30% lighter and shrink slightly in size.

How long is the healing process?

Typically, the brows will take 7-10 days to heal, although healing times differ between individuals. During this time, your skin will scab and peel resulting in a loss of color. This is normal. It generally takes 6-8 weeks for the true color to appear. Trust the process!

How long does Ombré Powder last?

Ombré powder is considered a semi-permanent procedure and typically lasts 1-3 years before needing a touch-up to boost the color and redefine the shape. Longevity of the tattoo depends greatly on skin type, lifestyle, sun exposure, and aftercare.

Your brows may fade faster and you may require more frequent touch-ups if you:

  • have oily skin

  • use tanning beds or have prolonged sun exposure

  • sweat excessively (e.g. workout 5x/week)

  • receive chemical peels (exfoliation), laser treatments, or other facial treatments

  • smoke frequently

  • have certain medical conditions

Do I need to get touch-ups?

A touch-up is REQUIRED 6-12 weeks after your initial session. This is done to fill in any areas that didn’t retain pigment, and to go darker or thicker if preferred. After this perfecting session, touch-ups are ongoing every 1-3 years depending on how fast the tattoo fades. If you are still happy with the color and happy with the shape, annual touch-ups are not necessary!
